Auxiliaries
BVT has vast experience in delivering world-class auxiliary vessels from the Wave Class tankers through to the Landing Ship Dock (Auxiliary) (LSD(A)) programme and beyond to innovative new concept ship designs.
Future Aircraft Carrier
As a member of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance BVT Surface Fleet has played a significant role in the design of the Future Aircraft Carriers for the UK MoD and will play a key role in building the Aircraft Carriers, with a block for each vessel being built at our Govan and Portsmouth facilities. The base port will be Portsmouth, Hampshire, which is also home to our support facilities.
Destroyers
BVT has a strong track record in producing world class Destroyers and prior to the joint venture being formed, BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions and VT Shipbuilding were already working in partnership to deliver the Type 45 Destroyer programme. Under the new joint venture, it will be business as usual and the first launch under the new company banner will be the fourth ship in the programme, Dragon, which will be affiliated to Cardiff.
Frigates
BVT is working on a number of projects for export customers including the build of three 99m Ocean Capable Patrol Vessels for the Royal Navy of Oman and reactivation of three frigates for the Chilean Navy. In addition, the Government of Malaysia has recently issued a letter of intent to procure two new frigates to add to the two Clyde built ships currently in service with the Royal Malaysian Navy.
Patrol Vessels
BVT Offshore Patrol Vessels and Survey vessels are the culmination of extensive Research and Development to develop versatile and affordable ships for general offshore patrol and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) duties. BVT s experience of guaranteed availability and leasing for this type of vessel has enabled the development of improved design for support practices resulting in ease of maintainability and lower through life costs.
Fast Attack Craft
BVT Fast Attack Craft are in service with Navies around the world offering a high speed weapons platform with superb seakeeping ability resulting in a highly capable frontline warship. The latest, the Supervita Class FAC, is in production for the Hellenic Navy at Elefsis Shipyard in Greece, under a transfer of technology contract.
Small Patrol Craft
BVT Surface Fleet provides engineering solutions across a wide range of composite applications, from design to production. Products range from 6m Rigid Inflatable Boats to 29 metre patrol craft. Contracts have been successfully completed in the military, transport, offshore, nuclear and civil engineering industries. BVT also offer marine products and composite solutions to the oil and gas industry in the form of pipe wrapping and mud mats.
